In his recent article, Will Gold Be Currency Or Will Cash Be Illegal?, Daniel Amerman points out the historical trend that is already repeating itself before our eyes.

"Many are unaware, as they usually just take the bullet items of the daily newscasts, that the health care reforme has far reaching consequences into how the US Gov'g will be controlling finacial transactions.

For some time now, in the name of the "Wars" against drugs and terrorism, banks have been required to report to the federal government any transactions involving more than $10,000 in cash, or even any pattern of transactions that may make it look like that is the eventual goal.

There are broad changes to US reporting requirements that were snuck into the health-care reform legislation, that will be making life more difficult for small businesses and entrepreneurs in particular. Form 1099-Misc will become more ubiquitous, giving the government far more information about the flow of money between individuals, even as it imposes new compliance burdens for anyone trying to help the economy recover. The new 1099-K will have to be filed by all payment processors (such as credit cards companies) for any company or individual who receives more than $20,000 annually in at least 200 individual electronic payments. This is the future of electronic cash in the United States, and this is what is already here."

IF you have anykind of stocks in gold or silver the time may be ripe to move it to a phsical holdings solution. Get all the coins you can and hold them for the future rainy days that may soon be uppn us.

I've long held that mankind can do ANYTHING with the necessary level of community thought and effort! God said it in Genesis that there was NOTHING that could be withheld from humanity then, but due to corruption and sin, had to put the brakes on the plan!

In the article: "Beam Me Up: Teleportation Is Year's Biggest Breakthrough" it apparent that we're going to be entering into Stargate technology very soon! We have all seen the Star Trek like communicators come into reality with the Motorola StarTac cellphone years ago!

Reservation Rewards To Buy.com!

Well, I get this phone call from Chase Bank that was evidently triggered from a prearranged notification process that my balance was down to a certain level. Upon investigating this it becomes apparent that a $12 fee has been 'authorized' (sucked) out of my account for over a year!!

Yea, so, when I finally get the telephone number to the so called 'Reservation Rewards' I speak with an individual who obviously has a script to work from and immediately describes WHEN I signed up from Buy.com and that I somehow, during a transaction, authorized 'Reservation Rewards' to begin charging my account the twelve dollars every month.

Since this particular card is on auto-pay and I don't use it often, I don't usually go in and look at the account activity... Shame on me!!

I ended up cancelling the account with 'Reservation Rewards' and have disputed the last charge citing the above as explanation. Shame on Buy.com and others out there, like Fandango.com, who take advantage of such sales 'tactics' or better shenanigans!

When I Googled the term "Reservation Rewards Scam", I discovered many, many other issues with this process of fleecing unsuspecting individuals. I hope Chase Bank and others who authorize such, IMO, fraudulent methods of creating reoccurring payments is taken to task. It was even discovered that some scammers out there have been using the topic of a Reservation Rewards class action lawsuit and a scam in and of itself!!! Jeez.. are we all assumed to be so stupid.

It's my utmost believe that we are not far off from a mandatory id system for ALL online transactions! This wild west nature of cyberspace is getting very hazardous to the wallet's health!

Update: After investigating the Reservation Rewards site, I did not there were some decent discounts that just might justify a monthly payment. However, when I emailed them as to my frustration of having several hundred dollars taken out of my account, along with the confession of my ignorance, all they could do is quote the times when myself or "someone in my houshold" double opted-in and started the process back in 2008.

I stuck to the notion of hey, here's a chance to possibly improve their system and keep me as a potential customer.

Well, Mike, replied back to my request of giving back the expire points (credits I never knew I had) and immediately shut my account down and said you can call to claim a $25 debit card and that 4 months of the $12 payments would be refunded!

Really, all I wanted was to simply get some back credit and continue to maybe try the service out that I payed well over $300 for.

On December 1st, Mary noted this blog post and again gave me their record of how my email was traced to satisfy the process to start billing my card the monthly, but she seemed somewhat sincere in her approach to understand a frustrated customer.

Hat's off to such methods... We aren't sure as to whether we'll try Reservation Rewards again, but I will talk with Mary and see what we can work out!

Just for the Record Reservation Rewards is a pretty decent discount club, just be aware of the monthly fees and use those credits!!

Ocwen Class Action Lawsuit and FTC Complaints

As the Owen Financial mortgage debacle continues, we find ourselves looking for ways to shout our case from the highest rooftops. One of these is making formal contact to the various Attorney General's office's and the Federal Trade Commission.

From their website "The Federal Trade Commission, the nation's consumer protection agency, collects complaints about companies, business practices, and identity theft.

Your complaints can help us detect patterns of wrong-doing, and lead to investigations and prosecutions. The FTC enters all complaints it receives into Consumer Sentinel, a secure online database that is used by thousands of civil and criminal law enforcement authorities worldwide. The FTC does not resolve individual consumer complaints."

Currently, we are forming a blog network for specific mortgage loan issues such as what Ocwen Loan Servicing is doing to us. They have created several errors in our loan's payment history and have feed us to the wolves. We have made every monthly payment before the true late date, but they are impossible to reach and now have sent several default letters regardless of our sending in copies of our complete bank records via registered mail.

Regardles of the fact that we have a mortgage account that has admissible evidence on being paid on time, Ocwen Financial may end up foreclosing on our account. This will most likely require a court appointed mediator to hear our case. As we presently cannot afford an attorney, it is our hope that perhaps as we chronicle the details of this horrific journey, we can get a class action law lawsuit for damages?

Well, stay tuned because until this get resolved either way, we will not cease to create more and more blogs that specifically point out this obvious scam. We are researching a good domain name like The Ocwen Finance Nightmare. We want to avoid and defamation charges, so perhaps a good generic term will suffice, but it's a SEO game as most know!

Ocwen Financial Corporation website publishes the tag-line of: "We make your loans worth more". Yea, more valuable to themselves for fraudulent fees and messed up payment history data. They further go on to state, "Any customer of Ocwen can easily pay his or her bills on-line, by telephone, by Money Gram or by mail." Yea, IF they don't screw up your account status! Ours has been fraudulently been placed into a default status and the online and phone systems will only allow us to pay via a live person for a $19 service charge!!

The company claims to have the customer, his business and the solution of his financial problems number one prerogative. In 2007 Ocwen was ranked as the leading innovative company in the financial sector. Apparently they were good enough to get Uncle Sam to divey up the thousands of Freddie Mac loans, but can't handle the volume or contingencies of managing the problems. They ask that folks make attempts to contact Ocwen Customer Service directly prior to posting any complaints on there website. Really, what do you do if you cannot contact anyone there?? more..

The Ocwen Loan Nightmare!

Well, if you were like most Americans who got their Freddie loans handed over to completely inept loan "servicing" banks, you probably heard of Ocwen Loan Company. We have been fighting to get someone to verify the FACT that our bank records prove we have been paying our payments on time every month, but now an apparent computer data entry issue has caused our loan to pass thru the torturous process of the Ocwen mean machine.

The link that follows is replete with many others who have been unable to work at any reasonable level with such a misfit of a company. The last I read they have outsources something like 89% of their workforce to India and other countries. The sad fact is that most banks are doing the same which makes it impossible to deal with anyone in the states that has a clue on how to work with the issues.

So, regardless of the fact that I have paid my $2000 p/month mortgage on-time is meaning less to the almighty Ocwen Loan computers. They have now sent notices of default and threatened to foreclose.

Well, if you don't have the funds for a lawyer, what do you do? We have elected to start a network of blogs that will work with other established sites that will hopefully lead to a class action lawsuit for northern New England people. We have found a great community over at ShameTheBanks.org and highly recommend time is well spent there as well as ComplaintsBoard.com's mortgage are as well.

Stay tuned to this because we are going to town in setting up a respectably sized network to put some real pressure on such predatory lending practices. It's going to be a ride and we will make the most of it!

Wow, it's been quite a long time since posting here. Much has been happening lately! We've been busy helping in the music and video departments of the Next Level Church. Truly a revolutionary approach to reaching one of the most unchurched areas of New England. Check their website out at here.

Now that I'm back into playing some guitar, I'd like to post some original music and share some insights. Facebook has been my primary platform, so, just want to ensure that anyone who happens along to this site will know to come on over and check out the regular posts over there!

Economic Stimulation Bill - Chocked Full Of CRAP!

The House Democrats’ trillion dollar spending bill, approved on January 21 by the Appropriations Committee and headed to the House floor next week for a vote, could open billions of taxpayer dollars to left-wing groups like the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN).

ACORN has been accused of perpetrating voter registration fraud numerous times in the last several elections; is reportedly under federal investigation; and played a key role in the irresponsible schemes that caused a financial meltdown that has cost American taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars since last fall.

Yep, ok ACORN stands to get billions from Democrats' trillion dollar spending plan. Specifically the "job creation" bill offers a Taxpayer-Funded Bonanza for an organization repeatedly under Federal investigations!!

Here are a few facts. First, this bill is the single largest expenditure our country has ever made. Over $800 billion will be spent. When you factor in the interest that will be paid it will cost our country over $1 trillion! This is real money that will have to be paid through taxes on you, me, our children and grandchildren.
Second, this bill has NO chance of turning around our economy. We have documented this with our many recent guests on Point of View.

Third, bill is full of liberal pork and political payback. House Republican Leader John Boehner recently said: "the Democrats' bill makes groups like ACORN eligible for a $4.19 billion pot of money for 'neighborhood stabilization activities.''

If you have any doubts about how much pork is in this bill, let me share just a few of the items included:

$79 billion to bail out states who have overspent
$30 billion for COBRA extensions
$20 billion for food stamps
$89 billion for Medicare
$1.7 billion for the National Park System
$55 million for the Historic Preservation Fund
$7.6 billion for "rural community advancement programs"

The list goes on and on with dozens of items receiving billions of dollars that will do nothing to "stimulate" the economy. In fact, many of them will have the opposite effect.
Please call your senators now before this comes up for a vote and encourage at least ten of your friends to do so as well.

Please be willing to get involved and make a difference for the future of our country by contacting you elected officials, in any form. As a matter of fact, I urge you to call both of your senators right now to let them know exactly what you think about this bill - - then encourage at least ten of your friends to do the same thing.

Even with all the concern of our where the US economy is headed, people will not be thwarted in their observance of national Holidays. Hey, who doesn't want to take some time off to spend time with (away) from friends and family, just to enjoy the season and the joy it can bring!

Well, even amidst such festivities, it never ceases to amaze me at how innovative free enterprise can be. Case in point the "Nation Regift Day", which officially commences on December 18! Guess who stands to profit from promoting this day? Yep, that would be the shipping industry!

The Late Great Election Debates!

Well, as the saying goes, "unless you've been living under a rock"... you'll know that the presidential debates are well underway, but it just no longer seems to be the same.

The fact is that the majority of the potential voters are getting most of the issues sorted with the Internet. I know much of my opinion has been sorted by the mail lists I'm on! The mass media venues of television and radio will have their purpose of reaching the "older generation" of computer illiterates... (Enter McCain here). Still, who can deny the power of being on McCain’s mailing list and getting updates about his every move!

You just can't help thinking that you don't need to bother with the TV. However, I do get a hoot out of listening to the, at times, very biased slants of "Public" radio! Their always entertaining and somewhat informative... just need to spit the bones out, that's all!

Recent Tax Cut No Benefit For Most Americans

It seems that most wage-earning Americans are discovering, to their amazement, that the big Bush tax cuts, that promised more money back, did, in fact, not filter down to them. Instead of realizing a reduction in income tax debt, they are discovering that the tax owed has increased. Now, many of us need that $600/1200 rebate just to cover our tax debt!

This is particularly true in our case where this year we owe the IRS over a grand and last year we received one! Seems that the so called stimulus package is to keep our taxes out of Uncle Sam's pockets for at least one more year!

I now am in the process of changing all my W-4s to request MORE tax be withheld so I'm not in this shambles next year! I'm also looking into how much more I can have taken out for my IRA to see if I can get into a lower tax bracket.

It sucks, no doubt about it! I guess I better start buying those $20 ounces of silver, you know, it was only $3 an once 5 years ago!!

Oil and gas up, gold up, taxes up and the dollar down, home sales down, job creation down spells RECESSION! Yea, who's lips are we read now! Seems there are some pretty talented ventriloquists in the White House.

The New York Times published a story just a year ago about a Congressional study revealing high income families experienced sharp drops in fed tax rates while the tax rates for middle income earners edged up.

The story continues that an exhaustive analysis of tax records and census data “reinforced the sense that while Mr. Bush’s tax cuts reduced rates for people at every income level, they offered the biggest benefits by far to people at the very top.”

STOP The Caller ID Fraud!

Well, it finally happened and we're not to please with it. Our private UNLISTED telephone

number has become victim to some tele-marketings unhanded scheme. What I'm referring to is the annoyance of having hundreds of UNsolicited calls being made with your personal number in the Call ID display! It's called Caller ID spoofing and it's big biz!

So, if you want to know more about what is going on with that and to better educate oneself we have setup up a blog at www.calleridfraud.info. It was very bad last week where we getting over 50 calls per hour! Even though it has trickled down to 5 or so an hour I still cannot turn my answering machine back on.

I actally change my answering machine to give the caller an explaination as to how they got my personal number and then point to my new blogs url. Oh, and I have to tell family frients to call my cell - if they know it!

If you've just happened to come across this post, then I thank you for your limited time. Seems to me that the popularity of Blogs are directly proportionate to the attention span of the average web surfer…. No, that’s NOT including you… as you have refined taste and most likely an interest in Robert Goulet!

Well, what can we say? Robert Goulet died an untimely death and in a most horrific fashion… by an attack on his respiratory system, the very vehicle that delivered his golden vocals to a world that will fill such a vacuum in no time soon.

Personally, I think that this site will be further developed to a more personal approach… still paying a healthy respect to ‘all things Robert Goulet’, but with more emphasis on my family and it’s typical issues that just may capture someone’s interest.

I can recall the time when I was taking my first venture beyond the boarders of the cozy New England states to chase an old flame in Florida. Well, there was a double purpose… one being to meet my GREAT Uncle Robert Goulet, of whom my father Robert Goulet never spoke of. Since he never mentioned his uncle (my Grand Father’s Brother), I was intrigued. He was a man of formidable reputation, such as the United Ways Chief Officer for the State of Florida (retired) as well as a retired Major for the US Army. There’s nothing skimpy about this life’s work and it made me very proud to be a ‘Goulet’.

When I did have the opportunity to ask if he in fact personally know THE Robert Goulet, he stated that they met in Vegas and received yearly tickets to see Camelot, one of Robert’s big plays. Well, that was over 10 years ago and I’ve never spoken with them since…

Time has a way of floating us down the river. It’s up to us to keep up with the current while not forgetting where we came from, if we hope to make it to our intended destination!

Unmasking Halloween

The date today is October 31st. Most people know it as "Halloween" but it also has long been known as The Festival of the Dead. The Celtic tribes and their priests, the Druids, celebrated this day as a marker for the change from life to death. November 1 was the beginning of the New Year, so Halloween or "Samhain," was like New Year's Eve. It was both a time of death and new beginnings.

The young would wander the countryside disguised in scary masks, carrying turnips carved into scary jack-o'-lanterns to frighten off ghosts and goblins. They believed that the veil between the living and the dead was believed to be the thinnest at this time, and therefore one could most readily communicate with loved ones in spirit.

Witches also celebrate Halloween as the "Feast of Samhain" which is the first feast of the witchcraft year. Being a festival of the dead, Halloween is a time when witches attempt to communicate with the dead through various forms of divination. Contrast this with God's command against divination in Deuteronomy 18.

The term Halloween is shortened from All-hallow-even, as it is the evening before "All Hallows' Day" also known as "All Saints' Day." Pope Gregory moved the day from May 13 to November 1. This made Halloween the eve of this celebration. November 1 became "All Hallow Mass," and October 31, became "All Hallow's Even."

Today, Halloween has become one of the more celebrated holidays. We are told that people spend more on decorations at Halloween that any other holiday except Christmas. And often the Halloween celebrations have included more and more occultic activity. Christians have two options: to ignore Halloween or to provide an alternative (like a Fall Fun Festival).
I hope you have thought about what you will do today and tonight. Don't just go with the flow. Make an informed decision about what you will do on Halloween.

A Singing Hero Leaves This World

With the number of comments I've heard, it's very obvious that Robert Goulet has made quite an impact on many people. I can recall how I first heard his rendition of A Time For Us, the love theme for Romeo and Juliet. It gave me goosebumps.

Well, now we must look to the present. A sad world who despearately needs to hear a joyful song has many artists, but none that covers the span of Robert Goulet's legacy.

Here's a few interesting facts about Mr. Goulet wonderful life:

He was born on November 26, 1933.

Ironic enough my father is named Robert A Goulet and was born on November 28. Both were born under the Zodiac sign of Sagittarius, which are straight-shooting perfectionists - just plain workaholics!

My dad and Mr. Goulet were both six feet tall... I only attained 5 foot ten. Oh, well!
All of us are of French Canadian decent and most likely, as many Canadians, hail form the "Old France".

Goulet and his first wife Louise Longmore had one daughter, Nicolette.

He had two sons, Christopher and Michael, with his second wife, actress and singer Carol Lawrence.

In 1982 he married Vera Novak in Las Vegas, Nevada. When not at their home in Las Vegas, Robert and Vera Goulet resided on their yacht in Los Angeles.

In March 2006, it was announced that Goulet would receive a star on Canada's Walk of Fame. Although he was not born in Canada, he was born of Canadian parents, and he moved back at three months old. A Summer Gone By...

Well, it's been a few months and much could be said about a completely (seemingly) dismal summer. The weather, here in the New Hampshire/Maine East Coast area has been one of the mildest ones on record.

I ended up mowing my grass only three times due to the very slow growth. There just wasn't enough heat, along with precipitation to get the growth. Well, that said, I don't mind that temperatures have been somewhat on the mild side... seeing my office is still lacking the modern amenity of AC! That' OK... it's on the way... so, they say!

Just turning 42, on August 25th, brings me closer to the reality that I better do something about the topic of retirement! My T Rowe price statement tells me to throw more in! I just may seeing the growth fund, along with employer contributions, netted over 16%! That's a good annual return on the green back... Just keeping your investment up with inflation is a major challenge... perhaps why so many have gone to Gold!

I did want to do a quick note about my new (fad) hobby of electric helicopters! In my quest to find the best value (cheapest) in a radio-controlled heli has let me to now purchase (and return) three different models.

My first purchase (impulse) was when I got some B-day money in hand and was enticed at national Drug Store chain shelve. Hey, $20... I can afford that! Oh, don't forget the batteries, to a tune of an additional $12! It has problems, like no left and right control, so, it's going back.

I then when to one of those large nation Toy Store chains to only have to return that one (tree times the cost), but the batteries were included!

So, finally, I found a great entry level four channel heli called the ESky Co-co Lama 3! Besides it being a much better controlled unit, it has batteries that can be replaced on the fly and spare parts! It's a true 4 channel that has a servo to control the "swash" That's when the rotors are tipped forward to go in that6 direction! Beats all the others I tried hands-down.

I won't even mention the micro-mosquito I bought at Radio-Shack (returning it tonight)!

Well, just thinking about this can be painful for allot of hard-working Americans out there, but you have to face reality some day!

The main attraction was an already developed content management script being released for the first time. There was very little out there to compete at the feature richness and cost, so, as they say, 'the rest is history'.

Frustration of Replacing Car Keys!

Well, if you ever lost your car keys, in todays modern computerized security, you'll probably take a trip to what I call, "replacement key #ell"!

Well, not noticing until it was too late I discovered that the key ring, containing my wife's spare keys, was missing, along with the remote starter and keyless entry fobs.

Dohhh!

Well, after many phone calls to varioius locations that I believe they could have been lost at, I started the tedious process of finding out how much! All I can say is, "thank God for letting ones finger do the walking!"

All in all, with a keyless entry available on line (self programming), I'm looking at $200. Yeah, that stinks, but it could have been allot more if I wouldn't have Googled for the keyless fob. You can get more about that here or here.

I figured the most important thing is the replacement key... don't want to be caught losing the master key!

Upon searching Google, I noted that there was some recent legislation proposed in the state of California attempting to try and make such proprietary (read that, expensive) info, is more accessible and therefore cheaper!

Well, until then, I guess I'll be ordering those parts and making my plans to leave work a little early next week!

6-31-07 UPDATE

Well, here's one for the road, I found my keys.

It seems that in anticipation of potentially losing the keys, I decided to place them in my glove compartment of the SUV.

Moral: Look around better and don't second guess yourself!

I was "Googleing" for some particular reason when I found a site hearlading' "Free Internet Filtering and Parental Control We-Blocker Safe Families Software"! Well, it seemed to be very intereting, seeing Microsoft has made it a high priority on their latest Vista OS release.

I have a couple of nephew who are just on the cusp on that curious Internet usage and a stepson who most definately has and will continually be bombarded with imagery and suggestions that most definately collide with his parents world-view!

So, as a fool gutten for punishment, I downloaded it and attempted to use it on my home pc. After all,

The Last Internet Marketing Bus...

Well, in the light of more and more crack downs with Google and the likes, we are seeing days of the lone marketing coming to a rapid end... Well, now marks the days of memberships and the flocks of server-side, custom applications.

Some of the latest ones that come to mind is the incredible buzz behind the tools that seek out what ads are making the real money with Adsense and then "Click-Flipping". Well, if you just happen to be reading this post, you may or may not know what that is. You can get more info by clicking here.

So, if one hasn't already established their lists of warm customers or developed their well indexed "empire" of sites, click-flipping just may be the last bus to get on board with.

I personally have signed up for a couple of memberships. The prices for these tools are climbing more and more. I never thought I'd see the day of paying $200-300 p/month just for the privilege to use a service. Well, it's obvious who's making the money on some of these endeavors.

Final Destination Movie Series

Well, with the wonders of DVD movies by mail and DVR technology, I recently watched the first two movies of Final Destination.

You can easily Google the movie title and get the synopsis, but you have got to see the series for yourselves! It will leave you on the edge of your seat and be warned that the gruesome nature of the death scenes will definitely damage any and all sensibilities.

Despite the overt horror nature of these films, the idea of pre-destination or everyone has a “date with death” starts to surface. The common themes of the first films seem to imply that death has a “pattern” and that those who can recognize it could, in theory, thwart the plan of death…

This could open a whole Pandora’s Box of philosophy and I defiantly have my beliefs!

New Sight on Web Sites -- Web 2.0

Well, there's much to be said about how the web is being won. We have seen major acquisitions of the so called "Web 2.0" centric websites like MySpace.com and UTube.com for alot of money!

What makes these sites so valuable and what is does the term Web 2.0 really mean?

Well, in a word it means "interactivity". MySpace was just that... a place to interact with others who could customize their space and then share! Google's Blogger.com, yet another acquisition, has recently brought their new version to light that offers similar functionality. Who can doubt the marketability of a captive audience that uses your services on a regular schedule!

Oh, just one more thing... I wanted to share what I paid $700 for and $200 p/months to keep... Just check out the Certification Preparation site that was just put up with the service. It's just the beginning of a portal that will link 5 similar sites together and that will hopefully have various affiliate programs throughout.

It's a great way to create hundreds of websites and have them all managed under one roof. The real plus is how these sites will be spread across several thousands of IP on servers across the globe! Very nice indeed -- Web 2.0 at it's finest!

The promise of making good money on the Internet has keep my credit cards from being paid down, drawn lots of quality time from the family and has just left me wondering if it's really worth it!

Well, here's one last good go! Due to the demise of the ill-fated Revenue-Insider, that I witnessed the beginning and the end of, I have looked for something offering a similar approach, but with a maturity of not having the membership be the beta rats! I mean, for crying out loud, who wants to pay $100-200 p/month just to fund someones experiments and line their pockets while they feed on your hunger to make the web your oyster!

Ok, next post... what I found and paid $700 just to get in and $300 to keep! I think you'll agree it radical, but just may work!

Saying Merry Christmas

Well, with much being said about various religions living in peace, I recall just hearing that Wal-Mart employees are going to be permitted to say, "Merry Christmas"! Thats a change from the ban from their corpoarte office last year!

Well, at least it will be allowed for those who's convictions warrant the overtly christian gestrue. The fact is when I was growing up in the 70's, all I recall is everyone saying Merry Christmas. What's up with this secularization of our holidays anyway? I see you, A-C-L-U!

Perhaps we all should say, Happy "Rama-Hanu-Kwanz-Mas!"
That should make everyone happy, hmmm?

Well, as far as that goes they still managed to remove Christ, the Lord. You know, O Come Let Us Adore Him" is removed from the public schools, which censor to sing any overtly Christian carols in the name of political correctness.

These songs will most likely fade into oblivion and a whole generation will miss out on the true meaning of the season.

Finding A New Dog

Well, we lost our beloved Zoe, a german shepherd-cross.
Now comes the venture finding a replacement. Not that she could ever be replaced.

I do believe that it will be more difficult than easy. My wife has already been thru two area shelters giving the run around about how we should be waiting longer and not worryinging about finding a new dog, even though we were going to eventually get two dogs!

Well, I don't really expect anything less. It took a few years to find ZOE and I guess it will take some time to find that just right addition to our family.

Our New Home

Well, after many days of looking and fighting off the anxiety of having to move to a rental, we have finally found our new home to be! The selling realator calls it a "Dollhouse", we will soon be calling it home!

The home is located in Kittery, Me and is so close to work that I can walk to it! My wife, who works at the town hall, can drive there in less than a few minutes. As you can see, these are very nice perks. Ok, now on to the details of this new real estate that is going to cost us well over a quater million in the next 30 years!

It's a 1940 construction that was originaly a two-story mini house! It sits upon a solid ledge and had had a complete renovation of the inside and out! All utilities have been updated and everything from the vinyl siding to the rug and paint is new!

The only thing missing is a refrigerator and we just found a great deal on a Hotpoint at HomeDepot! It was a floor model - still new for $250 off of the regular price.

We can now finally enjoy the luxury of crushed and cubed ice, along with cold filtered water in the door!

Yea, and there is a child lock for keeping the muchies away ; )

Ok, so you have it. A new (to us) home and the pressure of making that $1600 p/month mortgage payment (tax and insurance included) ! Now, to get back to making some serious cash online!

House Shopping in New England

Well, we sold our house and have began the process of shopping for a new home. Now, I'm not sure if you're familiar with the prices of homes, but they're pretty high in New England!

The average three-bedroom home goes for $220-290 THOUSAND. The fact is most of these homes were purchased for $40-70 THOUSAND less a few years back! With the re-evaluations and inflation, we have discovered that it takes a whole lot of clams to buy the same piece of beach!

Ok, after several showings we think we have a winner:

Really, all in all, this house has it all! Now, we have to consider the long term effects and facts that it's going to be a mill stone around the neck to pay it off!

The good news is that we will have enough proceeds to put down a decent payment to get the monthly at a comfortable level.

So, with a lot of prayer and a good nights sleep, we will possibly be making an offer this week!

I really hope we can pull this one off!

Judas, Jesus and The Easter Bunny

With this upcoming Easter, there seems to be more questions going 0n about the Christian faith than actually enjoying the season! With the recent release of the so called "Gospel of Judas", which actually suggest Judas was just being obedient in the betrayal, you wonder what the motive behind such a documet really is!

Far from being an arch-traitor, the “Gospel of Judas” portrays Judas as singled-out by Jesus for a special revelation above and beyond that given to his other disciples. According to this “gospel” Jesus says to Judas “You will exceed all of them. For you will sacrifice the man that clothes me.” Salvation was to be obtained through secret knowledge of the kind that Jesus imparted only to Judas.

In our opinion, this really does a disservice not only to Christians, but to all those who are searching for the truth. It is simply not true, as the article suggests, that the “Gospel of Judas” offered a dissenting form of Christianity. Instead, it was a text of the Gnostics, whose religion predated Christianity by several hundred years. The article also omits other key pieces of information, as when it called Elaine Pagels, a “Professor of Religion at Princeton University,” but failed to tell its readers that Pagels’s writings have been called the single greatest force drawing people to modern Gnosticism. Pagels has also stated that the book the “Da Vinci Code” raises interesting questions about early Christianity, and that some of the ideas in Dan Brown’s book are substantiated by early Gnostic texts.

What is most disturbing about all this is that Gnosticism, far from being just another New Age religion, belongs to the darkest fringe elements of the occult, and relegates God and Jesus Christ to the lowest rung of the spiritual hierarchy. While Jesus is no longer God, every man is said to be his own divinity; and at the top of the spiritual ladder of the Gnostic religion is the figure of Lucifer – and hence Judas is made into the hero of Holy Week. The Kennebec Journal and all the other media outlets in Maine simply fall in line, and wittingly or unwittingly, spread the occult message of Gnosticism.

The “Gospel of Judas” shows all the signs of being just another literary hoax. Judas, having immediately hanged himself after betraying Jesus would have had little time and absolutely no inclination to give a detailed account of his conversations with Jesus. And the manuscript, which remained undiscovered for nearly two thousand years was conveniently “discovered” just as a wave of interest in New Age religion, including Gnosticism, was sweeping the globe.

The hoax relies a great deal on the suggestibility of the American public, coming as it does, in the week before Easter and only a few short weeks before the release of the Da Vinci Code. Christians will question the “Gospel of Judas,” while non-Christians, will accept it uncritically. The financial motive for publicizing the discovery of “The Gospel of Judas” is also obvious, since it will create even more interest in the soon to be released movie.

Although it is highly offensive to portray Judas as a type of hero in the week leading up to Good Friday and Easter, it is as least entirely consistent with the system of values set forth in the mass media, a twisted system of values which makes celebrities out of petty criminals, dope-addicted rock stars, and tin pot dictators, but relentlessly badgers the Christian Civic League and the type of citizen who supports it. It is only fitting that those who portray good as evil and evil as good should offer Judas as a hero.

Build A Better and FREE TiVo!

Yep, everytime we miss an episode of American Idol, I used to say to myself that I wish I have a TiVo! Now that TiVo has sold out its customers to the entertainment industry (your TiVo will auto-delete your stored programs if the rightsholder wants to, despite the fact that there is no legal right under copyright to limit home recordings' shelf-lives), you should be looking for an alternative PVR.

Here's some interesting information on how you can build a better TiVo/DVR out of an Old PC! Forget about the monthly payments, too!

If your comfortable with buildgin computers then all you will really need is a Windows pc with at least 256MB of RAM (512MB or more is better), plenty of hard drive space, and a good video card.

The TV card could be such as an ATI All-In-Wonder or Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-250 card.
PC DVR software, the Hauppauge card is bundled with BeyondTV, but is also available from SnapStream separately for about $70.

You can get the complete building instructions here.

Here's an overview of the home PC-based options, including Freevo, MythTV, Snapstream's BeyondTV, and Microsoft's Media Center. It also mentions the the Build Your Own PVR website.

Although good things have been said about MythTV and Freevo, unless you're fairly familiar with building your own PCs from scratch and running command-line tools, Snapstream's BeyondTV is the easiest way to dip your toe into the homebrew PVR pool.

Microsoft's version is a non-option, as it can only be legally obtained when buying a new home theater PC, which typically runs $1200-1600.

Our New Pet - Hazel

Silly Rabbit – You’re going home with us!

We were out visiting our local SPCA in search of a new family pet. If we came across that special canine it will just “click”; so we thought!

Anyway, Lynette (my lovely wife) was raised with those little furry and adorable creatures that we have come to know as rabbits and guess what? Yep, we adopted one!

The rabbit is a female and answers, yes answers, to her name Hazel! She is completely litter box trained and very domesticated. She now occupies a space on our living room floor and has a ball (we do too) jumping all around!

Rabbits are a very interesting species, as I learned for the literature that was given to us during the adoption process. We Lost Our Dog Today...

We lost our dog Missy, today. I posted about her last year here .

I don't ever want to go thru the experience of putting a dog away for many more years! It was as if we lost a family member, but she was suffering from kidney failure and it was the best thing to do.

The strange thing is that I have not been able to stop thinking of her. Memories of the "good-times" keep flashing across my mind. Things like how she loved to ride in the car and go for walks, how she would hop up in my lap and attempt to "hug me" and play hide and seek. I have to hold back some tears even now as I type this. Believe it or not, she would say "yum, yum" for her treats. As most dogs, she loved to chase little furry animals, man could she run!

My heart muses that if there is a way for my pet to meet me on the "other side", I wish for her to be the dog that I have for all eternity. She really was the best dog I ever had and will not be easily replaced.

We will all miss you, Missy!

What Energy Crisis?

What, where's the energy crisis?

Well, that's what I found myself saying after reading this very eye-opening statement: "According to the Tax Foundation, between 1977 and 2004, the 29 largest U.S. energy firms collectively earned $630 billion in net income after adjusting for inflation. During that same period, those companies paid more than three times as much -- over $2.2 trillion -- in royalties, state and federal motor fuel taxes, and corporate income taxes.

Yep, the so called "windfall profits" of the big oil companies are just one third of what they pay out in taxes! How would you like it if you ended up paying two thirds of your income in taxes and only being able to keep the remaining third!?

It definately seem that " good case can be made that it is politicians and other tax consumers, not the oil companies, who harvest “windfall profits” from the oil business. In any event, because oil companies pay corporate income taxes, their tax payments will rise substantially this year even without “windfall profits” taxes.

Food for thought... eh?

$140K Ireland "Shack Homes"!

Here's one for you, how's about a shed house in Ireland that's about the size of a garden shed, has no electricity and a toilet with no sewage outlet grandly named Neptune Cottage in county Wicklow on the market for 120,000 euros ($145,100) Yep, all 200 square feet of it!

It measures 15 feet 6 inches by 12 feet 8 inches and is divided into two little rooms, one with a kitchen and a bed while the "living room" sleeps three, on a sofa and a divan bed, O'Grady said. The property has a felt roof, uses bottled gas for cooking and heating and only has an outside chemical toilet.

"They don't come up that often, which is why it's generating so much interest," said Roisin O'Grady, an assistant at auctioneers Hassett (www.hassett.ie) who put the property on the market.

The tiny timber-framed hut would not be tranquil -- it backs on to the Dublin-Rosslare rail line, but does face the beach at Kilcoole, Wicklow, about 25 miles outside Dublin.

WalMart Website Down

Wal-Mart’s website shutdown due to their system that creates movie recommendations linked a "Planet of the Apes" DVD to films about famous black Americans, including Martin Luther King Jr.!

Well, I learned that today after making an attempt to see if they had a Holmes humidifier in stock, to replace the one that just “$hit the bed”!

After typing in a Google search for “WalMart website down”, I learned that Wal-Mart said Thursday it had removed what it called the "offensive combinations" from a walmart.com page advertising a boxed DVD set, "Planet of the Apes: The Complete TV Series."

There’s a plethora of Blogs that immediately ran with the news and the comments have sprung a wildfire of reactions!

Robert Goulet (born November 26, 1933) was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, as the only son of French Canadian parents, Joseph Georges Andre Goulet and Jeanette Gauthier. He began singing when he was five years old. At one family gathering, Goulet's aunts and uncles blacked out his face with a burnt cork, put on his mother's white gloves and he entertained everyone with an Al Jolson impersonation. The applause terrified him, and for many years left him with a fear of performing.

He would later move to Edmonton, Alberta, with his mother where he attended St. Joseph's High School and began studying at Herbert G. Turner's famous voice school in Edmonton and then later studied at Jean Letourneau's music school. Soon after, Goulet became a radio announcer for CKUA. Goulet won a scholarship to Toronto's Royal Conservatory of Music, where he studied acting and singing.

Goulet continued voice training through 1952-1954 with famed oratorio baritones George Lambert and Ernesto Vinci on a Royal Conservatory Of Music scholarship.

He became a semi-finalist in 1952 on CBC-TV's Pick The Stars which led to other network appearances on shows like the Canadian version of Howdy Doody (in which he starred opposite another future star, William Shatner), Singing Stars Of Tomorrow and Opportunity Knocks.

In 1959, Goulet was introduced to librettist Alan Jay Lerner and composer Frederick Loewe, who were having difficulty casting the role of Lancelot in their stage production Camelot. Lerner and Loewe, impressed by Goulet's talent, signed the virtual newcomer to play the part, opposite Richard Burton's King Arthur and Julie Andrews' Queen Guinevere. In October of 1960, Camelot opened in Toronto, briefly ran for a four-week engagement in Boston, and finally opened on Broadway in December of that year. Goulet received favorable reviews, most notably for his show-stopping romantic ballad "If Ever I Would Leave You".

After Camelot's run, Goulet was booked on The Danny Thomas Show and The Ed Sullivan Show, which made him a household name among American audiences.

He appeared in a production of Rose-Marie with Inga Swenson, and in 2005 appeared in the Broadway revival of La Cage aux Folles. Goulet began a recording career with Columbia Records in 1962 which resulted in more than 15 albums.

Goulet began working in films in 1962, providing the voice of one of the characters in the animated feature Gay Purr-ee opposite Judy Garland. His first acting role was in His and Hers (1964), but it was not until a cameo appearance as a singer in Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980) that Goulet was given critical acclaim. Goulet remains popular in Las Vegas and performs in hotels and in concerts around the world. He has gained popularity with younger generations thanks to comedian Will Ferrell's recurring over-the-top impersonation of him on Saturday Night Live.

The longstanding report, repeated in many reference books, that Goulet's real name is Stanley Applebaum is false. The error resulted from an offhand remark Goulet made to a group of reporters when he first became famous. It is not, however, urban legend that Elvis Presley would grab one of his many firearms and shoot his television if Goulet appeared on the screen.

Goulet and his first wife, Louise Longmore, had one daughter, Nikki. He and his second wife, Carol, Lawrence, produced two sons, Christopher and Michael. In 1982 he was married a third time in Las Vegas, Nevada to Vera Novak. When not at their home in Las Vegas they reside on their yacht in Los Angeles, California.

Well, I'm sure many of you have tried making money on the Internet! It's that promise of making your riches in ones underwear that definitely appeal to me...

I remember when I was just a wee boy and experienced my first entrepreneurial attempt. It’s quite comical now, then, it was “world shaking” I rolled an old telephone spool that we were using for an out-door table, down to the entrance of our humble little trailer park. I then proceeded to take the popsicles I hand make in the freezer the night before and a stack of old comics form my father’s collection.

My aim was to make some change on the folks who came into the area! Well, I remember making a whole pocket full of change for a short while! It the finality of things, my father wasn’t too impressed with my just taking his comics!

What I learned is that there are ways to make money, but you really need to think the whole process thru, before you get yourself in trouble! Making money on the web is the same way. It seems that there is more selling info on how to make money on the web, than those actually doing it.

The big deal now, so it seems, is membership sites and pre-packaged shortcuts to get you started! Well, I’ve taken my lumps and consider myself somewhat savvy on most of the trends, but it seems the one constant on the Internet is inconsistency! It’s always changing, never the same!

So, there’s always going to be some way to make some money! I like what I recently read on a popular Internet Marketing forum, “I'm not sure if there's a first mover advantage in Internet Marketing, because reactivity is really strong in this market. So at the time you release your product you'll get competitive solutions within a few weeks.

The Unemployment Experience

Seeing my contracts have "ended, not requiring my services any longer", I've since been exposed to the wonderful experience of securing Unemployment Compensation for the first time in my life!

Let me tell you it is easier than I thought and with the advent of the Internet there was no need to wait in a long line, smelling the smells and seeing the sights... if you know what I mean. If you don't, go visit your local Social Security Office and request a new card... you'll see.

Anyway, I'm now in the process of securing another position in the IT field and have had several tempting calls to work a 12 hours drive NORTH! The sad fact is that with the cost of daily room and board, I might as well be working locally for about $7 less p/hour! It's a major catch 22. The bottom line is that I have a wonderful wife who happens to have medical conditions that require my being home with her during the sleeping hours. I cannot fathom the thougt of being away from her and not being present in the case of any major issues!

So, the journey continues... the first check is coming, but who can live off of one third their weekly pay.

When the taxes you've been paying are more than the state's average, you get the feeling of being ripped off. Period!

All men must have a special list of items they would like for Christmas. Here is a just a few of what might be on a wish list for a man.

The first one I would put on the list is a trip to baseball spring training. They would go with a bunch of friends, who were also fans of the same team; watch games and socialize with the players. Remember this is a “wish” list. Going along with the same theme, how about a trip to a baseball or football camp for adults? These camps are usually hosted by former players and allow them to fulfill their dreams of playing as a pro player.

Another item on the wish list for men would be a hunting trip or a fishing extravaganza. Maybe their dream is to go to the wilds of Alaska to hunt, or to go deep-sea fishing. A guided tour for a hunting party and a professional fisherman to give tips and help catching the “big one” are great gifts.

Maybe your Father’s wish list includes a new fishing boat, new gear, or a new camping trailer. I wanted to make quick post as to my beliefs in the "true" meaning of Thanksgiving and then happen upon this article from The Branson Courier:

Thanksgiving is all about to whom the “Thanks” is “given!”

Common sense tells an Ole Seagull that something celebrated as “Thanksgiving Day” should be a day of “giving thanks.” Generally speaking, who among us says “thank you” to “no one?” Generally, when thanks is given it is for something and is “given” to the person or entity believed to have provided that something.

Yet, even as some would take “CHRIST” out of CHRISTmas they would take the “Giving” out of Thanksgiving. To whom are we giving thanks? From Coronado’s 1541 Thanksgiving in Palo Duro Canyon, in what is now West Texas, through the 1600 Puritan Thanksgivings in New England, history testifies to the fact that our modern day Thanksgiving is rooted on giving thanks to God for blessings bestowed.

The true meaning of “Thanksgiving,” and its involvement with the very foundation of our Nation can be readily gleaned from the Proclamations establishing it and history itself. One of the “First Thanksgiving Proclamations,” issued in 1676, by the Governing Council of Charlestown, Massachusetts proclaimed, “a day of Solemn Thanksgiving and praise to God for such his Goodness and Favor.”

On December 18, 1777, after the victory over the British at Saratoga, the Congress recommended, “That at one time, and with one voice, the good people may express the grateful feelings of their hearts, and consecrate themselves to the service of their divine benefactor; and that, together with their sincere acknowledgements and offerings they may join the penitent confession of their sins; and supplications for such further blessings as they stand in need of.”

On November 16, 1789, the First President of the United States, George Washington, issued a Thanksgiving Proclamation stating, “Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor, and Whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint committee requested me to ‘recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanks-giving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many single favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.’

Perhaps Abraham Lincoln, in his 1863 Thanksgiving Proclamation said it best. “No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.”

Particularly at this time in our Nations history, it would seem appropriate, during our Thanksgiving celebrations, to stop and give “thanks” to Almighty God for the many blessings he has bestowed upon this Nation and its people. As Lincoln so beautifully said, “No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God.”

Well, if you believe in this history, don't apolize and celebrate your faith. If you dont' want to acknowledge the true meaning then enjoy your turkey. Oh, it just may be true, "you are what you eat."

Meet Our Dog - Missy

I wanted add some more info about a family member that hasn't been mentioned yet! Well, she's been with us for a litte over 6 years and has really grown to be a very special part of our everyday lives. Her name is Missy and she's our wonderful dog. She's an SPCA adoptee and is a lab-cross mix. She's the most lovable "couch-potato" that you will ever know!

She's really the best dog I've ever had, except for the fond memories that I still have of my boyhood dog Shep. He was a great German Shepherd, who happen to be a former police dog! All I can remember is that he really didn't care for the sound of gunfire. Somehow he made his way to be placed in our home. I will never forget the day when I had to bury him, after taking him home from being put down by our local vet. He had very bad arthritis, which is common among shepherds. He was the best dog I can ever remember as a boy!

With "Flu Season" upon us and with the increasing warning about the potential Bird-Flu Pandemic, more and more people are wanting to know all the facts they can about this mysterious disease.

Even now, we're seeing symptomless bird flu carriers in Vietnam. This is particularly frightening to observers of the situation, because now we're finding out that people can carry the bird flu virus and not show any symptoms, which means they could be stealth carriers and unknowingly transmit the virus to others. Obviously this means that lots of people could be picking up the bird flu virus from those individual carriers if it becomes transmittable between humans. In this scenario, it would be very difficult for the CDC or the World Health Organization to track the origins of that particular outbreak. Currently H5N1 has not mutated into a human-transmittable form, but that is expected to take place at some unpredictable time in the future, and at that point, symptomless carriers of the virus could become a real problem.

Essentially, the bird flu situation looks to be getting worse. We're seeing more infections in Vietnam and symptomless carriers, and countries are doing little to actually prepare for the virus. They have plans in place and claim to be stockpiling a vaccine that doesn't even exist. The only thing they are really stockpiling is Tamiflu, which is not very effective against H5N1 and will be in short supply if an outbreak actually occurs.

Public health officials and organizations around the world remain on high alert because of increasing concerns about the prospect of an influenza pandemic, which many experts believe to be inevitable. Moreover, recent problems with the availability and strain-specificity of vaccine for annual flu epidemics in some countries and the rise of pandemic strains of avian flu in disparate geographic regions have alarmed experts about the world's ability to prevent or contain a human pandemic. The true origins of Halloween lie with the ancient Celtic tribes who lived in Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Brittany. For the Celts, November 1 marked the beginning of a new year and the coming of winter. The night before the new year, they celebrated the festival of Samhain, Lord of the Dead. During this festival, Celts believed the souls of the dead—including ghosts, goblins and witches—returned to mingle with the living. In order to scare away the evil spirits, people would wear masks and light bonfires.

When the Romans conquered the Celts, they added their own touches to the Samhain festival, such as making centerpieces out of apples and nuts for Pomona, the Roman goddess of the orchards. The Romans also bobbed for apples and drank cider—traditions which may sound familiar to you. But where does the Christian aspect of the holiday come into play? In 835, Pope Gregory IV moved the celebration for all the martyrs (later all saints) from May 13 to November 1. The night before became known as All Hallow’s Even or “holy evening.” Eventually the name was shortened to the current Halloween. On November 2, the Church celebrates All Souls Day.

The purpose of these feasts is to remember those who have died, whether they are officially recognized by the Church as saints or not. It is a celebration of the “communion of saints,” which reminds us that the Church is not bound by space or time.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church says that through the communion of saints “a perennial link of charity exists between the faithful who have already reached their heavenly home, those who are expiating their sins in purgatory and those who are still pilgrims on earth. There are others who would differwith this in that the so called departed souls are in their respective places. The gouls and ghosts that accompany the "All Hallows Eve" would be none other than fallen spirits of depraved beings seeking to find their rest or possible habitation upon the living.

I received a very interesting offer in U.S. Mail this past Saturday. It purported to be from an organization called Neo-Tech. The letter was not your typical baid and then send for our product type of offer. Instead it seems to connect to the very heart and challenge that most individuals are experiencing today, "what does my future hold and how can I really be happy".

The self help industry is a multiple million business that almost always capitalizes on finding a need and filling it! It's typical Capitalism in action, but Neo-Tech seems to acknowledge this in a very straight forward and refreshing honest manner. To quote the serpent, "you shall NOT surely die," rings very close to what I have begun to discover about Neo-Tech.

In his early teens he moved with his mother to Edmonton, where he studied voice with Herbert G. Turner and Jean Létourneau and in 1950 became a radio announcer on CKUA. After his first professional appearance, at age 16 with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Goulet continued his voice training 1952-4 on an RCMT scholarship with George Lambert and Ernesto Vinci. A semifinalist on CBC-TV's 'Pick the Stars' in 1952, Goulet also competed in CBC radio's 'Opportunity Knocks' and 'Singing Stars of Tomorrow.' While taking small roles in 1954 with the COC and appearing in the chorus of the Melody Fair series of Broadway musicals produced in Toronto, he made his TV debut in a walk-on role in the CBC production of The Consul. Appearances followed in CBC-TV's Sunshine Town (1954), The Lady and the Logger, and Take to the Woods (1955). In 1956 he appeared in Spring Thaw and sang at TUTS in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Finian's Rainbow, and South Pacific. He co-starred 1957-9 on CBC TV's 'Showtime,' sang Macheath in the Stratford Festival's 1958 production of The Beggar's Opera, and appeared in 1958 in summer-stock musical comedy in Ohio.

Goulet's creation of Sir Lancelot in Lerner and Loewe's Camelot, opposite Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, in the premiere at O'Keefe Centre 1 Oct 1960 and in the New York premiere 1 Dec 1960, brought him particular acclaim. Thereafter he enjoyed a successful US career in Broadway and summer-stock productions, TV, movies, and nightclubs, his popularity attributed to a "virile attractiveness, stunning showmanship and magnificently rich voice which combine to produce an impact on audiences that can be likened only to the matinee idols of the 1920s" (Song Hits, Summer 1967). In 1962 he received a (US) Grammy Award as best new artist of the year and in 1970 he was given a Tony Award for his performance as Jacques in the Broadway production of The Happy Time. With Judy Garland he recorded the voices for the animated film Gay Purr-ee (1962). He also appeared in such movies as I'd Rather Be Rich (1964), Honeymoon Hotel (1966), and Naked Gun 2 1/2 (1991), in the TV adventure series 'Blue Light' (1966), and in the TV productions of Carousel (1967), Kiss Me Kate (1968), and the Emmy-Award winning Brigadoon (1966). He appeared as himself in the feature film Atlantic City (1981).

Recordings

Goulet's recordings include the hits 'What Kind of Fool Am I?' (1962) and 'My Love Forgive Me (1964) for Columbia as well as 75 albums for Columbia, Harmony, RCA, MGM and, in the mid-1980s, his own Rove label. Among them: Robert Goulet's Greatest Hits (CBS 9815), the original cast recordings of Camelot (Col KOL-5620) and The Happy Time (RCA LSO-1144), the soundtrack of Gay Purr-ee (Warner B-1479), and various theme albums devoted to Christmas, Hollywood, and Broadway songs.

Appearances 1970s to Present

Goulet's later career found him appearing in Las Vegas, singing in nightclubs elsewhere in the USA and Canada, and participating in the revivals of various musicals - eg., he ascended to the role of King Arthur in a 1975 production of Camelot in Los Angeles, and sang de Becque in a 1986 touring production of South Pacific seen at the O'Keefe Centre, the National Arts Centre, and PDA.

Goulet's inimitable baritone and unselfconscious audience appeal ensured his continuing popularity in stage musicals. He reprised the role of King Arthur 1992-4 and again in 1998, and as Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha, toured 50 cities from 1996-7. As a replacement, he played the lead in Broadway's Moon Over Buffalo. For singing in a series of humorous television commercials 1996 for a US sports network, Goulet received an Emmy Award. His solo performances, although less frequent by 2004, included Las Vegas shows and a self-titled one-man show. In concert, his signature tune is "If Ever I Would Leave You."

Goulet's later Canadian appearances have included a 'homecoming' concert with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in 1985, and a concert series with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa in 2000. Film work after 1991 included acting and voice parts in Mr. Wrong, Toy Story 2, Recess, The Last Producer, and other films, as well as numerous television appearances.

The singer became a member of the U.S. Music Educators National Conference Advisory Council in 1996, and was a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society. The University of Nevada at Las Vegas offers a scholarship in his name."

Well, Scott Stapp, the lead singer from the now dis-banded rock group Creed, is solo with a very pro-Christian theme. Well, what do you expect from someone who came from a very strong Christian family!

I recall as one preacher said it, "God's going to get you!" Yes, I guess he did!

I'm personally please to hear Scott's new songs as they are full of soul and passion. He definately has an experience to share, being on the top of the world with Creed. Now, he seems to have received his wings to soar to new heights.

Can't wait to hear more of the new upcoming album titled: The Great Divide.

President OKs BRAC list; Our Shipyard is safe!

One of our local newspapers in Dover, New Hampshire , The Foster's Daily Democrat, release a news article about President Bush signing the BRAC list. Now it's up to Congress to either accept or reject the whole list in the next 45 days.

In the post they state, "President Bush on Thursday accepted the recommendations of the Base Realignment and Closure Commission, which include keeping the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard open.

Bush has long maintained he would accept the commission's findings to avoid any appearance of political influence on the process. His deadline was Sept. 23 to accept the entire report in full from the BRAC Commission or send it back for further changes

The commission on Aug. 24 voted 7-1 to remove the shipyard from the list because it found the Defense Department had "substantially deviated" from its own criteria in recommending the base for closure. In total, the commission voted to close 33 major bases and realign 29 others to save a total of $4.2 billion. In addition to Portsmouth, the commission voted to keep open the submarine base in Groton, Conn., and Air Force bases in South Dakota and New Mexico."

This is great news for my employment future. Being in IT, the nearnest job that would pay anything close would probably be a hours commute to Boston, Ma! No thank you! It's been a real blessing to be at Portsmouth and our prayers and hearts go out to the other 62 bases that are being either closed or realigned.

I really set my mind to believe the base would closedj, at the most a realignment. It was such good news to hear that the first two major hurdles have been passed. Now it's just up to Congress to get along and do the right thing and vote YES!

Goulet Trucking On

Well, I do have to say that at one point in my life I almost became a professional truck driver. Yes! I'm talking about the big rigs, eighteen-wheelers in all! This was due to the lack of good paying jobs in the pan-handle area of Pensaclola, Florida. I was working as a security guard and since being out of the Air Force, I just couldn't find any decent paying jobs. So, between choosing to apply with the local Police Department or driving a truck, I chose the good ol' Sneider Transport Company. I actually completed the preliminary phone interview. They want to know if you can do basic math and have reasoning skills before they go any further... Makes sense.

When I was perusing the web, I discoved a Goulet owned trucking company! You check it out here. Goulet Trucking is an interprovincial company with a history of service extending over 35 years, located at Dollard, Saskatchewan. From my family tree I do know that the Goulets, at least my part of the "tree" migrated over to the "New France" from the "old one" around 1666. It would really be interesting to see if any of this ties together. I am planning on scanning some parts of a family tree my Great Uncle Authur Goulet has compiled over the pre-Internet years.

I must admit I'm a big fan of the many truck driveing simulators available for the pc and Sony Playstation. Since I chose a career in IT, this has sufficed to satisfy my truck driving urges! My hats off to all those who, as one driver put it, live a life of "solitary confinement with a view."

New England Gas Prices Rise

Gas prices in our little northern New England seacoast town, are definately up! It has been new record prices and we have officially past the $50 point of filling up the mini van. It looks like we will be eating out less and as well as making less of those unplanned road trips!

On this evening news, a report on the crazy rising gas prices and gouging caught my eyes. The Department of Energy set up a "gas-watch" website to allow anyone report gas prices in their area:

"The Department of Energy is very concerned about the impact of gasoline prices on American families. While we are working to address longer term supply issues, we're also working to make sure American families are being treated fairly. If you believe there may be price-gouging, or price-fixing, please contact your local authorities and fill out the form."

Well, here's our chance to stick it back to some of these "silk-gloved" corporate looters of our hard earned money. We just may report a few of these gas stations and even print up some flyers with the website info as well!

Boys To Men

Well the title of this particular post is not about the singing sensation "Boys To Men", but about my wonder stepson Brandon Schaffer. Saturday, September 3, 2005, Brandon became a man by celebrating his 13th birthday.

Even though we are Christians, I have always held the Jewish custom of Bar Mitzvah with a deep respect and awe. In the Judaism 101 webpage, www.Jewfaq.org it states that, " Under Jewish Law, children are not obligated to observe the commandments, although they are encouraged to do so as much as possible to learn the obligations they will have as adults. At the age of 13 (12 for girls), children become obligated to observe the commandments.

The Bar Mitzvah ceremony formally marks the assumption of that obligation, along with the corresponding right to take part in leading religious services, to count in a minyan (the minimum number of people needed to perform certain parts of religious services), to form binding contracts, to testify before religious courts and to marry.

A Jewish boy automatically becomes a Bar Mitzvah upon reaching the age of 13 years. No ceremony is needed to confer these rights and obligations. The popular bar mitzvah ceremony is not required, and does not fulfill any commandment. It is a relatively modern innovation, not mentioned in the Talmud, and the elaborate ceremonies and receptions that are commonplace today were unheard of as recently as a century ago."

I shared this with Brandon and explained that even though we are not Jews in an external fashion, we are spiritual Jews and should look to the deeper connotations of such facts. With that I believe we have entered into a new, deeper and more mature relatonship. My boy has now truly become a man and with that, I will strive even more to treat him as such.

Citizen Journalists Tell Their Stories

With the amazing technology of the Internet main stream media is taking notice of the immense value of the everyday citizen's perspective. MSNBC TV posts such in their website, Citizen Journalists for the purpose of allowing everyday people to share their experiences in New Orleans along with other stories. While the media has most of the control on who is allowed to report what, I'm sure that the readership of such feedback will cause many more to become involved with getting the 'rest of the story' out!

In their running website series, CJ Experience: Hurricane Katrina, several residents of the recently devastated New Orleans area had their commentary and photos posted. With that heart felt unmistakable style, that only one who is there can give, you are immediately draw into what misery these unfortunate Americans are challenged with. Yes, the skillful mainstream media may censor what they believe is appropriate to their agendas, but still there's nothing like a story from those who are going thru it!

Katrina To Cause Significant Damage!

Remebering my time back in Pensacola, Florida, I remember many talking about the last "big-one" Camila. I spent less than six years there and never forgot how many describe the utter destruction of that storm. They said it literaly cleaned the seacoast of the panhandle of all civilization! All I can say is that I am glad to be back home in New England. Yes, we may have our cold weather, but we don't have too many hurricanes at category five!

Katrina is a category 5 hurricane on the saffir-simpson scale. Maximum sustained winds remain near 160 mph with higher usts. Katrina is expected to make landfall at either category four or finve intensity. Winds affecting the upper floors of high-rise buildings will be significantly stronger than those near groundlevel! Our prayers and hopes are with those who are at the mercy of what will happen in the next day. We can only hope they heeded the warnings and responded in a timely manner.

BRAC Results Are In

Well, with the BRAC voting completed for the base we're currently contracted on, the good news is that future employment may last a few more years. The not so good side is that the vote isn't final until the conclusion of the final deliberations session on Saturday, along with the President and Congressional acceptance ! more...

Actually, the remaining of the BRAC process still needs to complete it's course before a final word can be said. From the Brac.gov website, "The Commission will furnish the report of its findings and its own suggestions to the President and to the American public on September 8, 2005.

By September 23, 2005, the President must either forward the report to the Congress or return it to the Commission for further evaluation.

If the report is returned to the Commission, the BRAC Commission has until October 20, 2005 to resubmit its report to the President. If the report is returned to the Commission and then re-submitted to the President, the President must transmit his approval and certification of resubmitted report to Congress by November 7, 2005"

So, as they say, so far so good! I'll keep you posted on how this tremendous event will influence where this Goulet family will go for the future!

Well, with summer almost over and the big 40 around the corner, I do have to say that the reality of middle-age is starting to sink in! I originally started this blog to help me get a few of my marketing sites indexed. It’s a well known fact that a blogger.com blog will get any of your links indexed faster. Now, whether or not those links are acceptable spider food is another thing!

Recently, with the plethora of search engine spam sites out there, the big three search engines, Google, MSN and Yahoo, are cracking down by honing their ‘search bots’ algorithms to search and de-index! I personally have endeavored to keep such website construction to a minimum, but the temptation of fast cash does have its temptations!

As far as good information and long term sites check out some of my links in the right navigation bar, you’ll find good content and long term value. The web is supposed to be about sharing knowledge and letting people find their answers quickly. The faster the search engines can reduce the spam, the better!

Good Will For All

Recently, I was finishing with a dentist appointment and decided to take a slight detour on the way home. Across the street there was a local "Goodwill" thrift store. You will find items these shops stocked mostly with donated items from the area communities and business. Well, always looking for a great bargain, I did know that they have an interesting book and music and cd section. When I entered the store I immediately went to the cd section and noted several items of interest. I quickly scoffed these items up for a paltry $1.95 each and enjoyed the wonderful feeling of saving well over $10 that these items used to cost each!

Since then I have made it a priority to search out the thrift shops in some of the local towns. If you are not sure if you have a local Goodwill store, check out there locator page.

You may even come across several items that you KNOW will sell on EBay for well above the price the shop is asking for. There is an excellent tool that enables you to "spy" on EBay auctions called. "Fear Factor" is a very popular TV show. It highlights the courage of the participants to engage in the virtually all fearsome and disgusting acts.

Virtually all of the contestants are willing to sacrifice their dignity for the sake of the prize money. So what does that insinuate? It implies that with the proper mindset, determination, and will power, you are able to conquer your fear.

Everyone has a select few sort of fear. It can be caused by any 1 or even even more of the following reasons.

by a traumatic past incident (like being bitten by a dog)
per influence of more people
by their have negative way of thinking But are you going to let fear take above your life? Will you remain a hostage of your fear forever? You must take the necessary steps to overcome your fright. It's all in the mind.

Do you envy more people when you see them enjoying untamed rides, and you're just stuck in a corner because you're too terrified to give it a try? Our suggestion is to face your fear head-on. Just imagine yourself enjoying the experience instead of exaggerating the things that produce you worry. (Unless of course you have health problems, then taking uncivilized rides are likely not to be a really good idea).

Do you need to be a doctor however you're afraid that your intellect cannot handle the pressure or even you're caring about financial insecurity?

Well here's the great news. If you're really determined to achieve your deepest desires, a powerful force will enable you to reach them amidst each obstacle that comes in the way. I am not kidding.

Someone or even something will always be there to help you attain your goals. Just have faith for your abilities. Your will power have the maximum capacity to accomplish anything with the proper mindset.

You may utilise visualization to help you in defeating any kind of fear.
Are you afraid of heights? Then imagine yourself being on top of a mountain, overseeing the magnificent sights. Enjoy and feel the moment. So take away all worries and anxieties.

Writing Like A Professional

Software that really helps you write like a professional?

Recently, I purchase the trial version of a program called "Editor Software". Yes, the question may arise, "who purchases a trial version"? Well, for the first time in my life I did and am glad to do so!

To be right upfront, one of the biggest challenges facing my online ventures is writing good, relevant content. The only thing is that proper grammar and style has been somewhat of a concern. Even though Microsoft Word did have these as built in features, they never did seem to catch the more simple problems that plaque good editorial style.

While this post is not meant to be a review, I would like to say that this software does kick the proverbial hinny and then some! When I passed some of the popular free reprint articles thru the program the advantage of having such a tool became obvious.

A Heritage To Be Proud Of

Getting right to the point, I have to say that being a Goulet brings up many proud feelings. When I had the priviledge of reading my family tree, I noted the hard working and pioneering nature of the family.

When Jacque Pierre Celetian Goulet came over to the "New France", in 1666, it was a fine momement for the Goulets. We owe our national identity to this individual.

I do plan on getting a copy of this tree online for others to check in on. Maybe I can round off some of the rough edges. Time will tell.

One Unique Goulet Site!

Entitled: "All the best resources on the net",is a very unique description for the use of the Goulet name. It seems to be somewhat of a portal for 'Goulet' information! Yep, while doing some genealogy research for the Goulet name, I came across www.goulet.net. All I can say is that it looks like your typical search result, be-all-to-all portal!

While on the website's homepage you will notice several menu bars with all sorts of categories. Titles like Business, Cars, Education, Entertainment, Finances, Health and just about everything you can imagine just begs for the curious to venture on with their unwary mouse.

When I clicked on business I did get a results page with no string in the address bar, except the basic url, this shows that it's using a type of frame relay setting.
One intrigueing thing is that on the left of the 'Business Page' results, I did get a bunch or categories that seemed to revolve around the keywords Robert+Goulet. Now that's a hoot!

Many news posts were all about the suspicion of how Robert Goulet would perform at his recent appointment to the part of Georges in Lacage. Now, after a few perfomances all of the critics have been silenced and nothing but praise is coming form their lips.

More and more I see email offers on how to make money online with automated methods. This is usually being accomplished by having to purchase the latest software tools. One of the latest "hot" tools is the "Article Announcer". This tool serves its purposes well.

While it is definately advantageous to make most of the tedious chores automated, it must be remembered that the most important part of any online marketing endeavor cannot be created by scripts or software. This vital component, of which speak, can only be described as "the human testimony". This is and must be understood to be the fundamental purpose and reason behind the popularity of the Blogging phenomenon!

The humanity of the Internet will never be replaced by programs or scripts. If the these are the skeleton and muscle, then the human touch is the heart and soul.

Record Heat, NOAA and Air Conditioning!

Well, I heard it on the weather forcast that New England is expecting to experience near record heat tomorrow! I'm already planning on purchasing that new AC unit!

Usually during such seasons we will most likely be in for some good thunderstorms. As far as raining on my plans I have discovered a way to get the advantage of knowing just when I should expect such inclement weather. I go to www.noaa.gov and watch the satelite for my region and as you know thunderstorms are quite clear in their satellite movements!

If you find that you are in for the possible "chance of thunderstorms" and you have a good connection to the Internet, check out that website, enter your zip and voilla, your on top of things! Besides that fact that this Gov't site is used by professionals and the military for their forcasts, you won't be inundated with all kinds of ads and cookie that you experience in the WeatherBug.com and Weather.com commercial websites! Just good old plain information that you can appreciate without being pitched to on every thing unders the sun!

Looks like it's going to be one those "best of the year's days" to go the beach... Us New Englanders can just "feel it in our bones!"

All in the Allergy Family!

I just underwent a complete battery of allergies tests and my “worst fears” have happened: I may have to part with having my wonderful furry pets!
Well, I’m going to exhaust all of the “other” remedies first. I do not, however, look forward to many series of shots. The symptoms can be controlled by the medication and so far, so good!

In his excellent article, “Do I Have to Part With My Pet If I Have Pet Allergies?”, Larry Chamberlain goes into the fact that just because you have allergies, doesn’t mean you have to lose the pets. I like what he says, “Up to 15% of the population are allergic to domestic animals and approximately one third of those continue to live with their pet. For many the pleasure of owning a pet outweighs the burden and discomfort of pet allergies."

The facts are, your allergies make life miserable for you, but are non-life threatening, you may be able to reduce the symptoms by taking certain actions!

Here are some of the changes that can be made to reduce allergies:

If you suffer from allergies, and share your living space with an animal, it is extremely important to keep dust and dust mites to a minimum in your home. The microscopic skin particles that are cast off by dogs, cats, hamsters and other pets are known as dander, and can quickly spread throughout your home and cause allergic reactions for anyone who has a pet allergy.

Never sleep with your pet. You would be breathing in dander for the whole time that you are asleep. Best make your bedroom a no go area for your pets, keep your bedroom door closed and don't allow your pet in. Although you cannot completely prevent dander from getting into your bedroom, keeping the animal out will greatly reduce the level of pet allergen in that room. Buy a low cost vinyl encasing for your mattress; this will keep down the dander that resides within your bed. Wash blankets, sheets and pillowcases frequently.
Where you can replace your carpets. Non-porous flooring such as hardwood, tile, vinyl or linoleum will contain far less allergen than carpeting. Where you do have carpets have them cleaned regularly and vacuum frequently - and use a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) vacuum filter.

Consider replacing fabric furniture covered for leather or vinyl furniture and replacing your curtains with plastic blinds, an expense but doing so will help reduce the effect of your pet allergies.

Bath your pet frequently, at least once a week and you will greatly diminish the amount of dander residing in your pet's fur (by up to 80%). Contrary to popular belief cats can be bathed, get someone to help and ask your veterinarian for advice on how to do this properly.
Damp wipe all surfaces once per week, pet allergens are airborne and will stick to most anything. Don't forget to wipe down your pet's toys they will be harboring allergens.

Washing off or changing the filter in your heating cooling system will help. Consider purchasing a HEPA air cleaner, they can reduce allergens in the home and increase comfort for those who suffer with pet allergies.

In fact, 63 percent feel they will have to make changes in their day-to-day lifestyle, according to a survey by Wirthlin Worldwide, a McLean, Va.-based research firm. Fears of the unknown, job loss or having less income are also on people's minds.

"If you hated financial planning to begin with, the thought of managing your money in trying times can be even more intimidating," says Randy Schuldt, vice president with IHateFinancialPlanning.com, a Web site for the three out of four Americans who hate financial planning. "Although it may seem impossible to predict what the future will bring, there are some simple steps you can take to give you more control of your money in a changing world."

To give you and your family something to hang onto during uncertain or changing times, IHateFinancialPlanning.com offers the following tips:

Put it in perspective. If history is any indication, the economy may not suffer long-term ill effects from recent events. The Dow Jones industrial average -- the oldest U.S. market benchmark -- typically falls for a short time, but it has traditionally rebounded within six months. It happened after Pearl Harbor, the Gulf War, the World Trade Center bombing in 1993 and the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995. Past performance doesn't guarantee future results, but there's a possibility that history may repeat itself. Fearful reactions will only make the short-term last longer.

Reduce your deficit. The nation's economic outlook is nothing you can control, but you do have control over your own situation. If you've got credit card debt, take steps to pay it down. Protect future income. You owe it to yourself and family to protect your earning power with disability income insurance and/or life insurance. The lack of disability income insurance is the single biggest threat to the financial well-being of the American workforce, according to the Consumer Federation of America. It reports that 80 percent of U.S. workers either have no long-term disability income coverage or their coverage is inadequate.

Resist the urge to borrow from your 401(k). Many people are tempted to borrow from their 401(k) as a first resort, but it should be the last resort. Many people think because it's 'borrowing from themselves' that no harm is done, but actually, they lose the chance to benefit from the tax deferral and compound interest on potential growth of their 401(k). That means your account will be much smaller when you retire. Also, if you quit your job or are fired, you may be required to pay back the entire loan immediately. If you are unable to do so, be prepared to pay income taxes and a 10 percent early withdrawal penalty on the loan.

Balance your budget. Now is a good time to get in the habit of budgeting your money. Track your expenses and spending for a month or so. It could reveal some money habits that need changing. And it can help you shape future habits, such as saving, charitable giving or just paying your bills on time.

Save for emergencies. Many people put off saving for a rainy day. It may not be raining on the economy yet, but the storms are brewing. A good rule of thumb is to have at least three months' salary in the bank where you can access it for emergencies ranging from a leaky roof to layoffs at work.

Have a plan in case of layoff. During these tough times, more and more companies are cutting jobs, and yours could be next. If you haven't done so already, update your resume. Be sure you understand what you'll need to do to maintain health insurance coverage after a layoff. You might want to apply for a home equity line of credit. You don't have to use it, but it's hard to get approved after you've become unemployed.

Write a will. It was a good idea before the world changed, and it's a good idea now. As long as you're thinking about your family's financial future, this is also a good time to formally declare your wishes about who gets what, and how much, after you've passed away. It's also the only way you'll be sure your wishes are carried out. You can modify your will as often as you like, for as long as you live. You may also need a durable power of attorney (POA), which formalizes who will make decisions on your behalf, if you are unable to do so.

Invest in the future. Resist the urge to put future plans on hold. If you want to buy a small business, adopt a child or retire early, put those goals on paper and follow through with a savings plan. It's easier to stay on track if you have something to shoot for. Regardless of the condition of the world, keep improving the condition of your personal finances. An investment in your future is also an investment in America's future.

Technology Upgrades!

My current career in IT assigns me to work around alot of people in this industry. I wanted to share what I've done over the last few months that enabled me to both upgrade our laptop and digital camera.

Actually, this was stumbled upon inadvertently. While in a conversation with a co-worker about laptops, they mentioned that they would like to get a decent one for some basic upkeep of email and their little league stats website. As the conversation continued, we discussed various options. I usually get asked about such on occasion. Well, the light bulb came on when I remember that earlier in the month, when I was researching good used-refurbished laptops for a client, how inexpensive technology can be. Usually notebook and PC's that are 6-12 months behind the "technology-snowball", can be purchased from the authorized resellers for fractions on the dollar.

Case in point is a Compaq/HP notebook, that was selling for $1400-1800 a year ago , can now be acquired for a paltry $699-$750!!! Yep, I done it for the client and she was ecstatic - the tip brought that out! Anyway, as you can see what if you purchased such and say in a year from now you are itching for the newer, but NOT the newest in laptops.

Well, start talking to people and place a cheap free ad for your laptop. The one that I recently had was a P3 700Mhz notebook that ran great. I wanted a faster 1500Mhz with a DVD/CDRW drive so I sold the P3-700 for $400 and bought the newer one for $800. Everybody wins and are happy. I did this with a digital camera that we bought just over a year ago. We paid about $199 for it and sold it to a family member for $99 and put that towards the newer one and gained a megapixal in quality that includes a dye-sub printer! It only cost us $100 for the upgrade and again, everybody wins.

I'm not saying that this will work for everybody, all of the time, but if you plan ahead and purchase quality products, it can work. Save your manuals and original boxes... always a juicy way to entice the deal. Don't forget Ebay and other auction sites out there. You can always tell a prospective local customer that the item is on Ebay and whoever responds first get the item.

It's hot and summer has finally come!

Well, the tell-tale says it all. It's hot for the northern New England region and I can say summer has finally come! The full blooming flower and plants attest to that fact. Last night the thunderstorms, that made a bee line across our area, made me say internally, "thank God I bought that uninteruptible power supply". It's good to have the change from the, seeming, half of year of snow we went through. Still, I enjoyed the winter and wouldn't trade it for anything, at this time of my life at least.

Now onto other Goulet times thoughts. I have been thinking about family and how we must make an effort to reconnect. As anyone who has been a statistic of divorce may know, it can create shreds of any lasting connection. I have the fond memories of family reunions and holiday at my grandparents. Seasons change and even though I no longer have those time with my "blood" side of my family, my in-law side does and it has been good!

Every year they are all very consistent with spending times for the holidays and other special moments such as birthdays and anniversary. I'm very thankful for them and the kindness they have shown.

As I approach the big 40 (August) I know that many patterns of what I hold valuable and perceptions of haves and wants will radical change. I remember reading about how the Old Testament profits were usually entering an awareness phase of their callings. Well, I have an inkling that everyone who gets the priviledge of reaching that age will enter into certain prophetic events that will lay out the path for future events.

BRAC Commission visits Portsmouth Naval Shipyard

Well, today will go down as history for the Portsmouth Naval Shiyard. Having been a contractor for the Navy, at this yard, for over the past 5 years, I'm now faced with the same potential fate as those who have been here for many more. The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard faces a complete closure being placed on the Department of Defense BRAC list.

I just read a Bloomberg.com article titled "Maine's 205-Year-Old Navy Yard Mobilizes Against Closure, Again." The truth is that the BRAC has come and gone several times to this shipyard and now it seems that it now just might strike home. The sad fact is that most of jobs that will be lost are NOT in the immediate area. Those who do not have sufficient time in service to retire will either have to relocate or make serious life style changes.

There were thousands of local community residents as well as a large portion of the shipyard workers ready to meet the commissioners when they arrived. Having some inside sources, they mentioned that these commissioners did not look the slight impressed. They were just in from visiting the Navy Yard in Groton, Connecticut, for one hour and now they were in Kittery, Maine to visit our yard.

Tomorrow its off to Brunswich Naval Air Station for their review. It has already been disclosed that there will be a public forum held in Boston, Mass in the beginning of July to allow further publick feedback.

GREGG, SUNUNU CO-SPONSOR MEASURE TO FORCE DOD TO RELEASE BRAC JUSTIFICATION

WASHINGTON, DC– U.S. Senators Judd Gregg (R-NH) and John Sununu (R-NH) announced today that they have co-sponsored legislation, introduced today by Senator Olympia Snowe (R-ME) which would require that DoD provide to Congress all of its documentation related to the 2005 BRAC round within 7 days of enactment of the legislation. This legislation provides that, should DoD not comply with this request within 7 days, the current BRAC round would be terminated.

Senator Gregg stated, “As we have made clear to the Department of Defense, we find it unconscionable that the documentation for the decisions made in the 2005 BRAC proposal has not yet been released to the public. We are moving forward on proving to the BRAC Commission, that the decision to include the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard on this list was in error; however, this argument is made substantially more difficult without knowing the specific reasoning that the Department used. This legislation sends a strong message that we have every intention of proving the Department wrong and making sure that the Shipyard is kept open and operating.”

Senator Sununu stated, “Although members of the New Hampshire and Maine Congressional delegation have called on DoD to release the essential data it used to recommend closure for PNS, the Pentagon has yet to satisfy our request. This legislation would compel DoD to provide Congress with all of the crucial data and documentation that it used to make closure recommendations – and includes provisions that would terminate or delay the current BRAC round should the Pentagon not be forthcoming in doing so.

Well, I just watched a recent Blockbuster DVD movie rental called The Final Cut and all I can say is, "freaky".

I could go on, but the opening line says it all, "What does this mean, immortality? The cherished moments of your life will now live on forever. With the Zoe implant all that you see with your eyes, all that you hear with your ears will be preserved, so that it can be experienced by love ones you leave behind. And that,s what great memories are made of, the Zoe implant, from our family to yours.

The concept of a judgment after death comes to mind, a final reckoning, of all that has been thought and performed concerning acting upon the same. That is precisely what this movie brings out except it leaves it in the hands of mortal humans who choose to take out the bad and just leave the good as a "remembrance".

Along side the main plot seems to be that there is a whole segment of civilization who does not want the constant monitoring, as they see it, and chant, "remember for yourself!"

Now you know what Whoo-ha is I can tell you more about myself. I am 12 years old, my name is Brandon Schaffer and I have lived in the southern Maine area with my mom and dad all of my life.

I play drums for a hobby and have my own full size set of Gretsch Black Hawk drums.
This is a really fun set to play on. I use Zildian cymbals [All their models are awesome] and Zildian sticks, they are light and really fun. I love music and will post reviews for some albums that I own. I’ll also post reviews for video games as well.

Making Money Online

Well, just to continue on... Our family has been enjoying the life in New England, but the lousy weather, over the past week, has jut been too reminiscing of England! LOL.

We, as any middle class, American Family, have the debt and now a possible unemployment situation with a BRAC. My current employment is with the US Navy at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. I do computer consulting... nothing fancy, just plain ol' MCSE type of stuff. The money has been good, but the lost can potential be catastrophic to our credit reports!

We have been looking at mortgages on local homes and with the news of the medium price of a home being $200K, we are not that far off here. We just checked out a lovely 4 bedroom, 2 bath, for $279K. Yikes, I would have fainted at that price just 10 years ago, when I live in a cheaper part of the country. Back then $30K bought some nice options, but the income was no ways near the here and now!

This BRAC is set to cause almost 10,000 jobs to be lost in the southern Maine and New Hampshire areas! We are already seeing the potential fears. My wife, in celebration of her recent promotion, wanted to upgrade her car to a nice 2004 model. We could do it and when discussing the BRAC with a local car dealer, we were informed that they have gone to a major slump and most of their leads were changing their minds on possible purchases. Now, just to see how the housing marke will do!

So, all this being said, I must look at making some money online. I recently joined a very exclusive marketing group that will be arming me with the knowledge of creating some very possible income streams. Listen, I've tried just about everything over the last 4 years and it's to the point that I cannot afford NOT to find something that will work. It causes me to cringe just to think about what I have spent...

Well, as you can see, this is going to be open and down home friendly disclosure. We're not alone in this work and if we will just slightly lower our paranoia and allow our fellow "earth-mate" to share, we can have a much better experience here. Heck, we might learn something from each other.
