We Lost Our Dog Today...

We lost our dog Missy, today. I posted about her last year here .

I don't ever want to go thru the experience of putting a dog away for many more years! It was as if we lost a family member, but she was suffering from kidney failure and it was the best thing to do.

The strange thing is that I have not been able to stop thinking of her. Memories of the "good-times" keep flashing across my mind. Things like how she loved to ride in the car and go for walks, how she would hop up in my lap and attempt to "hug me" and play hide and seek. I have to hold back some tears even now as I type this. Believe it or not, she would say "yum, yum" for her treats. As most dogs, she loved to chase little furry animals, man could she run!

My heart muses that if there is a way for my pet to meet me on the "other side", I wish for her to be the dog that I have for all eternity. She really was the best dog I ever had and will not be easily replaced.

We will all miss you, Missy!

Sorry about your loss. Missy sounds like she was absolutely fantastic. She was your furrbaby. I lost my precious Pizza in 1997, and I have yet to be able to put away her toys, even though she has 2 new brothers she never met that now rule my home and heart. I have a poem of Rainbow Bridge which is about our beloved dogs meeting us in heaven, framed with my dog's Pizza's picture at the top of the rainbow.

You should check out the book, Animals and the Afterlife,
True Stories of Our Best Friends' Journey Beyond Death by Kim Sheridan

It is a big collection of accounts by rational people who have had visits from their pets after their deaths. I have found it a real comfort. The book is available on amazon or bn

I am sure Missy is your Forever Pet, as my Pizza's is mine.
